From Administrator to Strategist: The Dissolution of Classic Sales Roles

Historically, a significant part of sales activity was characterized by administrative tasks: researching contacts, maintaining CRM systems, documenting conversations, and creating reports. These activities, while necessary, are rarely directly value-adding in terms of closing a deal. This is precisely where the first wave of AI implementation begins, unleashing its liberating effect. Today, intelligent algorithms handle the automated search and qualification of potential customers, analyze vast amounts of data to identify buying signals, and maintain master data with a precision that is hardly achievable manually. The result is a massive saving of time. But the strategic consequence is far more significant: the sales employee is freed from the burden of pure information management. Their role shifts from that of an administrator to a designer. The freed-up time can and must now be invested in tasks that require human strengths: building deep, trusting relationships, understanding complex business challenges at the customer's end, and developing customized, strategic solutions. The classic separation between inside and outside sales is increasingly dissolving, replaced by more agile, data-driven teams.

In Step With Others: The Quest For Digital Sovereignty In AI And Sales

Within the boardrooms from Hamburg to Munich, a peculiar ambivalence prevails.
